Visual Arts & Theater at Hubbard Hall
Puppet Club
Puppet Club is a loosely associated group of individuals age 8 and up --children, teens and adults-- who produce and perform 2 or 3 short plays per year. While some dedicated puppeteers return to participate many times, beginners are always welcomed.
Type and construction of puppets is somewhat different for each play. Emphasis is on innovation and individual invention using very low-cost or free materials is encouraged. Participation fee is $35 ($30 Hubbard Hall members) for each 6-10 week session.
The Spring 2013 puppet play is based on a combination of two very similar folk tales; one from Kazakhstan and one from central Africa. It could easily have originated in Cambridge and the play is now called: THE ASTOUNDING TRANSFORMATION OF THE POTATO PLOT!!! Tentative performance date: May 27 during Farmer's Market hours. A dance with bird puppets (adapted from a scene in the play) may be presented at the Hubbard Hall year-end dance recital on June 15 in Hoosick Falls.
Open Studio Time for Puppet Club is Mondays from 2:45-5 PM. Group instruction and discussion, during which all participants will be expected to be present, will happen between 3:30-4pm weekly.
