SCHENECTADY – Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre is a company who has been producing opera in Cambridge for the past several summers and is now offering its first winter production in the G.E. Theatre at Proctors in Schenectady...The voices are better than good and the emotions they generate can be touching. Though the G. E. Theatre space generates some problems that often go unsolved, it is a treat to see opera in an intimate environment and to enjoy gorgeous music without amplification. It’s a special joy to have a large and lush 18 piece orchestra, conducted by Maria Sensi Sellner, accompany without overpowering the young talent who perform in full costume. Playing the dying consumptive courtesan, Violetta Valery, is soprano Rachele Schmiege...When confronted by her lover’s father she is tenderly touching as she sincerely and believably expresses the woman’s despair. -Bob Goepfert

From the NY Times - Sept. 16, 2012 - "I've seen Mozart's joyous opera many times, and this was the best by far. It was an exhilerating event. You couldn't monetize it; you couldn't commodify it ... you could only experience it."
