Join this dynamic percussion circle where participants will learn traditional rhythms from West Africa, Brazil and Japan to drum for dancers and just to have fun! Additionally we will focus on rhythmic improvisation. Recommended for adults and teens, ages 10 and up also welcomed, any and all levels of experience. Bring your own drum or use one that will be available for you.
Otha Day teaches on the faculties of several schools in the Massachusetts Berkshires and Southern Vermont. He has taught at Williams College on “Rhythm-Based Communication and Creativity.“ He has also taught courses on “Music of the Harlem Rennaisance”, Music Theory and Jazz History. Otha has given many concerts as a solo pianist performing both the standard solo classical repertoire and also specializing in the Classical Piano Music of Black Composers. In addition to facilitating Drum Circles he currently teaches Classical and Jazz piano to students of all ages and levels. More information at Otha's website >>
