National Dance Week
This was Hubbard Hall's second season celebrating National Dance Week, April 23-May 2, 2010. The community was invited to contribute to Poster and Poetry contests, attend special workshops and film screenings, and watch a runway fashion show featuring work by local designer Katrina Marie and students.
For the second year, we honored National Dance Week with a special showing of dances, with participation by a cast of more than 30 dancers. Special guest artist Mystina graced the stage with beautiful Middle Eastern dance together with our Belly Dance instructor Vicki Webberley. Donations at the door, for both years combined, have helped raise close to $300 toward the purchase of a sound system for our dance studio. Thank you to everyone who participated!
In 2009, awards were given to 5 winners of our first annual essay & poster contest, "What Dancing at Hubbard Hall Means to Me." See the winning First Place and Second Place entries here on our website. We are so proud of all our dancers -- you are so well-rounded, articulate and creative!

Celtic Footprints: A Journey of Story, Dance and Song
Ellen Sinapoli Dance Company
with storyteller Bairbre McCarthy
Choreographer Ellen Sinopoli and storyteller Bairbre McCarthy took families on a fantastical journey weaving stories, song and movement to follow the footprints of the Celts from Central Europe to Scotland, Wales & Ireland and then across the Atlantic to Appalachia. We saw and heard the myth of the seal people; the legend of the swans; the adventures of Jack (beyond the beanstalk); the tale of Norouas, the Northwest wind; and, the story of Dagda’s magical harp! Stories of a very special people that brought laughter, thrills, sadness and silliness to touch our hearts.
This performance was supported by the New York State DanceForce with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Dance Program.
