Man of La ManchaMan of La Mancha by Dale Wasserman, music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. Join Don Quixote and his servant Sancho in the knight's quest to right all wrongs and win the love of a good woman. Tilt at windmills and dare to dream impossible dreams! Scholarship Party Host Kevin McGuire invites you to his home, affectionately known as "The Manor", after the Sunday performance of Man of La Mancha for a glass of wine and appetizers in celebration of the Hubbard Hall Scholarship Fund! Talk with Kevin and former scholarship recipients about their experiences in the theater and dance & movement programs, made possible through the generous support of the Scholarship Fund from Hubbard Hall patrons and supporters. Hear first hand how your donations have changed lives! Admission is free but please bring your checkbooks. Come prepared to be thanked! Date Night! Child Care Friday! Parents: Friday night is DATE NIGHT! Come to the play, we'll watch the kids! We are pleased to offer child care on the second Friday of each show this season for children ages 4-12. For Man of La Mancha, child care will be available on Friday evening, May 23 beginning at 7:15pm. Cost is 5.00 per child. Each child should bring a sleeping bag and pillow. There will be Red Cross Certified babysitters under adult supervision with movies, music and reading. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED AND SPACE IS LIMITED TO 20 CHILDREN. PLEASE CALL 518-677-2495 BY 5:00PM ON FRIDAY, MAY 23 FOR RESERVATIONS. Wood Carving Weekend Wood Carving Course: an exercise in carving a caricature of the human face. Using deep-relief wooden heads from the Hotel Buffalo Ratskellar (circa 1900) as models, students will be guided through the process to carve a full-size replica of a portrait head. Since each model is unique, participants will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of expressions - some humorous, some grotesque and some serenely benign. Instructor Gerry Holzman, a Cambridge resident, has been a professional woodcarver to nearly 40 years. He is the head carver of the Empire State Carousel, a full-size operating merry-go-round entirely based on the theme of New York state history and culture. This unique "museum you can ride" is on permanent exhibit on the grounds of the Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown, NY. The scope and diversity of his other work is demonstrated by is private client list which includes Disney, the South Street Seaport, the Penn Club and Cunard Lines. Through dance, storytelling, painting, sculpture and puppet making we値l transform our corner of the Village into a Village in India! Each morning we値l have dance tome and art time, plus time for snack, stories and play. We値l see pictures/videos and hear about the lives of real kids growing up in India. We値l move to Indian music and try the fun rhythms of Indian folk dance. We値l explore the arts and colors of India through a variety of materials and techniques. Many of our projects will take place outdoors (weather permitting.) Families will be invited to join us for a celebration n Friday, July 18 to see the Indian Village we create!
